Sideview employed thin green lines on the toe and Nike swoosh to create an elephant-skin effect. The back panel is pure green with a small four-leaf clover in white, a simple homage to the Boston Celtics. The designer went a simpler route than other designers in celebrating the reigning NBA champions.

Instead of relying on a classic image, logo or color scheme, Yassir Rais used outside elements to make these sneakers look well-worn. The stitched material on the toe box may look like an old door mat but the pattern makes fun of the idea that shoes and clothing can hit shelves with manufactured wear and tear. The spotted laces contribute to the found-art concept of these custom Dunks, looking like a contribution from the family junk drawer that fits the theme in some perverse way.

The designer wrote “What’s Vintage?” in black lettering along the heel to drive his point home. The What’s Vintage? Emmanuelabor has used the California state flag as inspiration for multiple custom sneakers. The designer showed why sneaker fans love his shoes with the latest version of the Cali Nike Dunks. These sneakers were found at Emmanuelabor’s Nike Talk post linked here.
The tongue features a replica of the California flag complete with bear and the words “California Republic.” Emmanuelabor recreated the California bear on the outsides of both shoes, showing a skilled hand and a good eye. The Nike symbol on the heel tag is colored red and green to honor the colors of the flag.
I have mixed feelings about the brown fake fur used on the toe box, tongue and middle panel. Emmanuelabor wanted to add texture to the Cali Nike Dunks and the California bear seemed like a natural muse. While I love the look of the fake fur, I have a feeling that the Cali Nike Dunks would be ruined immediately after taking the first step outside. Even with this reservation, I think the Cali Nike Dunks are some of Emmanuelabor’s finest work.

Casey Custom Sneakers worked with Rogue Pictures to customize a pair of Nike Dunks for the upcoming movie Fighting. The Fighting Nike Dunks capture some of the images of this feature film starring Channing Tatum and Terrence Howard. I found these photos at the Casey Customs website linked here.
The tongue features an image of Tatum holding his hands up after a fight which is the picture used on the movie’s posters. The designer used the interior and exterior sides to depict scenes from Fighting including an action shot of Tatum getting ready to punch on the left interior side.
Casey Customs went beyond the movie images to complete the Fighting Nike Dunks. The toe boxes, for example, are made with white and light gray materials that shine when hit with light. The heel wraps are made from light blue denim rather than painted leather to show the rough and tumble life of the fighter. While I cannot speak for Rogue Pictures, I am sure that the Fighting Nike Dunks will help promote the movie ahead of its April 24th release because it reflects the hard-scrabble nature of the film.
Sideview Customs customized some Nike Dunks in February with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme. You can see Sideview’s previous TMNT work linked here complete with Michelangelo’s orange colors. I found the follow-up Raphael Nike Dunks at the Sideview Customs Nike Talk post linked here.
The designer brought back the detailed green scales around toes and heel wraps that made the TMNT Dunks successful. Sideview Customs kept the middle panel and toe box yellow to make the green and red elements stand out. Raphael’s red bandanna is honored with matching Nike symbols, shoe laces and midsoles.

The Raphael Nike Dunks fit well with the turtle’s brooding manner by keeping the colors simple and the design clean.
A first-time designer with the nickname PONR in this WGM posted the Robot Zebra Nike Dunks at the Nike Talk thread linked here. While the Robot Zebra Nike Dunks may need a bit of cleanup, PONR in this WGM did a solid job for his first time. We can see where these custom Dunks are heading even if the finer touches have not been sharpened.
The designer painted the middle panel, Nike swoosh and heel tag black as a solid base for the “robot zebra” print. He painted the remainder of these custom sneakers silver with black stripes to create a futuristic take on the familiar zebra print. The tongue was kept its original white color which may be changed as PONR in this WGM revises the look of the Robot Zebra Dunks.

2011 new style DigiWaxx Nike Dunks
2011 new style DigiWaxx Nike Dunks
TTK was commissioned by digital music service DigiWaxx to customize some Nike Dunks with the company’s logo. The designer was given wide latitude to use his own colors and designs, resulting in the wild and colorful DigiWaxx Nike Dunks. The DigiWaxx Dunks is stamped with the company’s blue logo on the heel. TTK matched the logo with a blue heel tag and laces to meet the client’s minimal requirements. DigiWaxx told TTK to do “his thing” and the designer obliged with a dark gray/light gray thumbprint pattern on the heel wrap and toe. The black middle panel and heel are cut apart by turquoise lines and gray spheres to add another layer of complexity to these customs. The DigiWaxx Dunks were completed with bright yellow Nike swooshes for yet another burst of color.
DigiWaxx got what it wished for in the DigiWaxx Nike Dunks as TTK turned chaos into sneaker art. The varying elements on the DigiWaxx Nike Dunks may seem incompatible at first but TTK knows how to tie together colors and patterns within a unified design.
Stizo Custom Kicks used the work of artist Takashi Murakami as inspiration for the Murakami Dunk High. Murakami’s Superflat style and KaiKai Kiki art studio have blurred the lines between commercial design, anime and museum art in recent years. The Superflat style is as much a social commentary as an art form, using exaggerated expressions and childlike figures to criticize modern Japanese culture. Stizo accurately depicts Murakami’s signature style with big-eyed, open-mouthed figures on the exterior sides of both sneakers. The interior sides of the Murakami Dunk Highs were left relatively unscathed as a calming contrast to the aforementioned tempest of images.
Instead of letting the interiors alone, Stizo Custom Kicks added a few touches that show his ability to implement balanced designs. The Nike swooshes on the interior sides are rainbows of purple, burgundy and olive green to match colors used on the exteriors. The string of silver stars set against the black heel wrap is the calm before the storm on the outside edges. Stizo Custom Kicks did a great job representing a difficult art form on the Murakami Dunk Highs without sacrificing his sneaker art integrity.
Mizzee Customs was asked by a customer to turn some Nike Dunks into a shrine to the popular Marvel character Wolverine. The much-anticipated movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine dropped last Friday but Mizzee used the Ultimate X-Men version of Wolverine on these Dunks. These photos were found at the designer’s MySpace page linked here.
The left sneaker shows Wolverine in one of his berserker rages, holding his adamantium claws in anticipation of a battle. The right sneaker portrays Wolverine punching forward with his left set of claws while keeping his right claws back to counter his opponent’s next move. The interior side of the left shoe has the mysterious character barely visible in a dark room with a most of his face obscured by his shiny claws. Mizzee Customs went as far as engraving claw marks on the toe to simulate the battle scars created by Wolverine.
I liked the choice of the Ultimate Wolverine for these Nike Dunks rather than the traditional version of the character. Wolverine is an enigma to his friends and enemies, living in the underbelly of every place that he goes. The Ultimate Wolverine Dunk Highs show an honest version of this famed Marvel character for a diehard X-Men fan.

Where to buy Dreamscape Nike Dunks 2.0
I wrote last December about the Dreamscape Nike Dunks created by Diversitile Custom Clothing. Diversitile was overwhelmed by emails from custom sneaker fans who wanted to get their hands on another version of the Dreamscape Dunks. The Dreamscape Nike Dunks 2.0 were posted this week at the Customsnkr.com blog linked here.
The base color on the Dreamscape Nike Dunks 2.0 is orange but Diversitile went wild with a variety of other colors. The essence of the original Dreamscapes was the swirl of colors that bedazzled the viewer. Diversitile pumped up the volume in terms of his color palette by using brighter and clearer reds, blues and yellows on these customs. The designer kept the black toe box and middle panel as well as the white Nike swoosh for a little respite from the visual explosion.
Diversitile added a little surprise to the sophomore versions of the Dreamscape Dunks with a glow-in-the-dark heel. As the lights go down, the Dreamscape Dunks evolve from a jungle of colors to a more delicate blend of greens and blues around the heel. Diversitile’s first-round victory over MAS favorite Stizo Custom Kicks was achieved with the Dawn of Darkness Dunk Highs. The Dawn of Darkness Dunk Highs feature Street Fighter character Akuma training in a faraway place. Akuma is pictured from the front on the left exterior with a pink glow of energy reflected against his body. Diversitile showed Akuma from behind on the right exterior with his symbol glowing yellow and orange along his back. The interior sides feature mountains, dark skies and lightning to put the viewer in the right mood to see Akuma in training.
The designer completed the Dawn of Darkness Dunk Highs by mixing the Akuma symbol with the Diversitile logo on the tongue. Diversitile is still waiting for his second-round opponent but the Dawn of Darkness Dunk Highs look like a championship contender. Ill Ego Customs came out with the Mystique Obsession Nike Dunks in January but they have caught fire in recent months. The designer has gotten some buzz on the Nike Talk post linked here where I found these images. The Mystique Obsession Dunks show the versatility and creativity brought by Ill Ego Customs to a simple customizing project.
The centerpiece of the Mystique Obsession Dunks is the handmade zipper applied by the designer. The teal zipper may seem to stand apart from the darker hues on these shoes but it adds another dimension to the design. Ill Ego used purple laces run through the black eyelets to complement the rainbow of faded colors running across these sneakers.
The designer showed his exemplary fading skills on the heel wrap, middle panel and toe box. Ill Ego starts with orange paint at the top of the heel wrap and faded to magenta by the back portion of the middle panel. The middle panel transitions from magenta to purple and ocean blue, leading to a deep ocean blue on the toe box. Ill Ego Customs added white blobs on the toe box and behind the Nike swoosh to apply a final layer of complexity to the Mystique Obsession Nike Dunks.

Nike brings Gigi Ruf and the Toxic Avenger theme to a great union in this pair, where the colors and the design emphasize strength, energy, and innovation with an incredibly convincing power. In addition, the stylish sweetness of the design is the perfectionist’s dream. It is so well executed that no serrious person in any age would have been able to find a single flaw with its form or spirit.
At times legends come to life, sometimes the soul of a concept is brought to perfection in a magnificent design. This is one such masterpiece. We surely admire the outrageous success of this ambitious project from Nike.
This pure and pristine design is a coopearation between the master designers and the bubbly geniuses of Nylon magazine. Certainly the amount of aenergy generated during the creation of this pair could run a nuclear reactor, but there’s a lot that can be said about the celestial coolness of the style too.
Indeed, only the greatest, and the boldest of sneakerheads may dare to own a pair of these magnificent marvels. The pure and clear color scheme of this creation declares the unrivalled power of the concept behind it. And the excellent form is just the topping on the ice cream.
Why do we see stars and comets rotating around our heads these days? What is the secret of this massive explosion of sneakerheads shaking the foundations of modern society and law and order? What is this strange smell of burnt flesh and roast bones that fills the courts and stadiums?
It is the flaming power of this latest masterpiece from the heroes of sneaker design. It is the mind-blasting, heart-rending, brain-melting might of this supernal piece of marvel from the master designers of sneaker universe. Designer kawooool is competing with Interaxionne (covered in my post yesterday) in the first round of the 2009 Clash of the Customizers. The designer’s entry in this competition is the Rome II Dunk Lows, based on the work of abstract artist Al Held. You can vote for Interaxionne or kawooool at the Clash of the Customizers website linked here.
Kawooool put the art in sneaker art by replicating Held’s “Rome II” on the middle panel. The complex and colorful painting translates well to these custom Dunks thanks to the agile hands of the designer. The middle panels are surrounded by sea foam suede and overlapped by clear Nike swooshes. You can see the Nike swoosh’s outline due to kawooool’s use of white stitching around the edges.
While Interaxionne may be better known the kawooool among MAS readers, the latter designer’s Rome II Nike Dunks show his ability to swing with the best. It takes a real artist to recreate a great abstract work and incorporate this work seamlessly within a custom shoe design. The Rome II Nike Dunk Lows should make this matchup more competitive than others in the first round of the 2009 Clash of the Customizers.

This beautiful monsterwill be released on June 20th at Concepts. Nobody knows how long will the world will last after that. So you’re well advised to witness the release by being present there and making your contribution.
Nike brings Gigi Ruf and the Toxic Avenger theme to a great union in this pair, where the colors and the design emphasize strength, energy, and innovation with an incredibly convincing power. In addition, the stylish sweetness of the design is the perfectionist’s dream. Designer kawooool is competing with Interaxionne (covered in my post yesterday) in the first round of the 2009 Clash of the Customizers. The designer’s entry in this competition is the Rome II Dunk Lows, based on the work of abstract artist Al Held. You can vote for Interaxionne or kawooool at the Clash of the Customizers website linked here.
Kawooool put the art in sneaker art by replicating Held’s “Rome II” on the middle panel. The complex and colorful painting translates well to these custom Dunks thanks to the agile hands of the designer. The middle panels are surrounded by sea foam suede and overlapped by clear Nike swooshes. You can see the Nike swoosh’s outline due to kawooool’s use of white stitching around the edges.
While Interaxionne may be better known the kawooool among MAS readers, the latter designer’s Rome II Nike Dunks show his ability to swing with the best. It takes a real artist to recreate a great abstract work and incorporate this work seamlessly within a custom shoe design. The Rome II Nike Dunk Lows should make this matchup more competitive than others in the first round of the 2009 Clash of the Customizers.

Best Nike Dunk Hi Supreme Spark
The reason i really like these shoes is because there feature my two favorite colors red and blue and reminds me of a snow cone. Here’s a look at the Nike Dunk Hi Supreme Spark, designed by Eddie Cruz of Undefeated and DJ Clark Kent as part of Nike’s West Collection. They sport a preodminantly blue upper, along with a scaly, reptile-like texture along the base. As of now, they are scheduled for a December 2009 release.
Alright heres a little treat for you skateboarding fans out there. These customs are a skaters dream, a reconstructed Dunk SB low made of distressed white leather and grip tape. Bringing it full circle to the original intent of the SB, grip tape is the perfect, subtle accent to this classic shoe. Brad Douglas reinforced the grip tape with leather and contrasted it with threading. The subtle zebra print inner lining set the whole design off into a state of perfection.
Champate posted his latest work, the Jekyll and Hide Collection, at the Nike Talk thread linked here. The designer used the tormented nature of Dr. Jekyll and his alter ego, Mr. Hyde, to create diametrically opposed custom sneakers. You can check out individual photos of each custom after the post.
Champate was particularly proud of the fact that both custom Dunks used in this collection were reconstruction projects. The Dr. Jekyll Nike Dunks feature purple shoe laces, black toes and wraps as well as beautiful blue/white imagery on the middle panels. The Mr. Hyde Nike Dunks have white toes and collars, red middle panels and a chain link fence design on the heel wrap.
The Jekyll and Hyde Collection benefits greatly from Champate’s dedication to detail. The Dr. Jekyll Dunks feature black denim sown to the Nike swooshes and toes to add a different dimension to these customs. The chain link fences on the Mr. Hyde Dunks are rendered perfectly by the steady hands of Champate. Champate rebuilt a duo of Nike Dunks that cannot be separated and critiqued individually without losing the larger theme.
Dont real like pink kicks but these caught my eyes immediately. I would never buy some pink dunks or any other pink pair of shoes but if i had to pick one it would be these. Thing the most impresses about these Dunks is that the bubbles are reminiscent of a classic Nike Safari print. The bubble detail is extremely clean and unique, however, the pink looks a little flat to me. On the other hand, with how busy the print is, anything else on the toe cap or mid might might turn the shoe from interesting to ugly.

But not all the attention was focused on the release. A lot of the attention was focused on the feet of CNCPTS store owner Tarik Hassan who was spotted wear a never before seen version of the Lobsters. Hassan was wearing a Yellow version. They are rumored to have been limited to 36 pairs given to friends, family and a few lucky people standing in line. Stay tuned for more info regarding the Yellow Lobsters. More pics after the jump.

Chueh’s character is featured on the shoe as well as the insole’s, against a simple, faded background. Also, the blood dripping from the heel as well as the swoosh additionally celebrates Chueh’s artform and sets the design off.

This version keeps it extra crisp, using a full White on White patent leather upper with a White tongue, lining and laces. The only accents come by way of a University Blue midsole and tongue label and a Midnight Navy outsole.

With the NBA All-Star game to be played this weekend in New Orleans, Nike is busy with All-Star releases. These gold and black Dunk Highs are extremely smooth looking. If you are a fan of the New Orleans Saints or gold and black in general, these kicks are for you.
Nike did a good job of using a shade of gold that isn't overbearing. The brownish gold goes perfectly with the black leather. While the design is simple, the final product is impressive.
It's difficult to get your hands on these shoes as they are available only at certain NikeTowns across the country. Pimp My Kicks commemorates this catcher from the end of the 19th century on a pair of Nike Air Force Ones.
The shoe is painted to look like a Louisville Slugger bat right down to the company's trademark brand. Fleet Walker's likeness is transferred in perfect detail on both tongues. Pimp My Kicks shows the proper reverence for Mr. Walker and his monumental feat by using one of the best shoes on the market today as a canvas.
These shoes feature a white/black/varsity crimson colorway that has some interesting textures and touches of gold. Black suede is used throughout the upper, while a contrasting smooth white leather is used on the toebox and strap. Crimson red stitching and other details give this shoe its finishing accents.
The shiny gold logo buckle and gold sprinkles on the grey outsole give this sneaker a little extra pizazz.

The third pair of Air Max looks like it has a high mid-sole but it actually is a protective layer of grey leather. The sole is the special feature for this shoe. More than half of the bottom sole is covered in the hard plastic that houses the Air Max technology.

This is the Running Man Pack. It has 3 sneakers that are designed by Pam, Parra and Todd James. The store called Nort Berlin will release on Friday, Feb. 15, the yellow colored Air Max 90. This is designed by Misha from the same company.
This Air Max has been called the yellow one but to me, it looks like it has a green colorway. This is because a major portion of the shoe is green. The toe box is made from a canvas material. This green color extends throughout the shoe. The shoe is famed by a border of sunny yellow leather. The back tab is a large yellow piece that covers the entire heel. I like the cartoon drawing on it. It looks like a pair of eye balls in a tornado. The message is like, watching your back for you and I like this.
The sole is nice with the green potion encasing the window to peek inside the sole. It is an interesting idea to have this green “leaf-like piece sandwiched in between the yellow, like the lettuce in between two slices of bread. The yellow segments are speckled with white and black.
The blue shoe laces and the blue inner soles match perfectly. This shoe can be worn almost anywhere. The cartoon at the heel is a bit of an insider joke to cheer up the day.
Stizo Custom Kicks is known for meeting the unique and far-fetched needs of custom sneaker fans. A fan of popular anime serial “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” was able to get custom Nike Dunks based on the main character. I am not familiar with this particular anime but it looks like Stizo captured the spirit of Japanese animation with these customs.
Both shoes feature an action pose on the heel that looks like it jumped off the storyboard. The fade from sky blue to white as your eye moves from collar to outsole shows the impressive control over design elements by Stizo. The toe box features colorful circles that play well on the Haruhi theme. I may not be a fan of this anime but I do like the craftsmanship used to bring Haruhi to life. These customs truly tell a story of night and day with an unwieldy design in the light hiding a cool gimmick only available in the dark. I am not a huge fan of what Evolved Footwear did to these custom Nikes including black patent leather on the toe box. The mixture of patterns from black leather to the black/ocean blue background and silver swoosh does not come together into a cohesive look.
I think Black Ice is a great novelty shoe because of the glow-in-the-dark outsole pictured below. Evolved Footwear does a good job promoting this shoe with this photo which shows the bright glowing outsole set against a black background. I admire the effort by Evolved Footwear to create a unique custom shoe but it misses the mark in terms of a wearable shoe.
This is the Running Man Pack. It has 3 sneakers that are designed by Pam, Parra and Todd James. The store called Nort Berlin will release on Friday, Feb. 15, the yellow colored Air Max 90. This is designed by Misha from the same company.
This Air Max has been called the yellow one but to me, it looks like it has a green colorway. This is because a major portion of the shoe is green. The toe box is made from a canvas material. This green color extends throughout the shoe. The shoe is famed by a border of sunny yellow leather. The back tab is a large yellow piece that covers the entire heel. I like the cartoon drawing on it. It looks like a pair of eye balls in a tornado. The message is like, watching your back for you and I like this.
The sole is nice with the green potion encasing the window to peek inside the sole. It is an interesting idea to have this green “leaf-like piece sandwiched in between the yellow, like the lettuce in between two slices of bread. The yellow segments are speckled with white and black.
The blue shoe laces and the blue inner soles match perfectly. This shoe can be worn almost anywhere. The cartoon at the heel is a bit of an insider joke to cheer up the day.
Stizo Custom Kicks is known for meeting the unique and far-fetched needs of custom sneaker fans. A fan of popular anime serial “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” was able to get custom Nike Dunks based on the main character. I am not familiar with this particular anime but it looks like Stizo captured the spirit of Japanese animation with these customs.
Both shoes feature an action pose on the heel that looks like it jumped off the storyboard. The fade from sky blue to white as your eye moves from collar to outsole shows the impressive control over design elements by Stizo. The beige is kind of like grey in color. The toe box is framed by an earthy tone of brown-beige. This suede paneling ends with a pointed tip and another panel continues right up to the heel of the shoe. The entire shoe is in suede, save for a panel of smooth, red-brown leather at the heel.
The mid-sole has 3 lines of machine stitches in matching beige thread. The Nike brand is almost invisible, except for a small branding on the tongue and at the heel of the mid-sole. This is definitely a nice dress shoe to wear on casual occasions. I like the mild colors as they would complement many colors in my wardrobe.
Nike has maintained its high profile by sponsoring events, clubs and athletes. Some of its celebrity athletes are Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Robinho, Ronaldinho and etc.
Wayne Rooney will be getting hitched this summer to his long time girlfriend, Coleen McLoughlin. They have released two new colorways of the Mid Plus – Metallic Gold and Granite. Each of these shoes features a filigree pattern all over the uppers. The pattern is less noticeable on the gold version, embossed in the same color of the shoe. On the other hand, the pattern is more bold and evident on the Granite version.
I personally prefer the Granite to the Gold. Though I’m usually a fan of gold shoes for women, this one isn’t impressive to me. This is an extremely colorful shoe. It would look great to wear out to a party. The colors symbolize the vibrant force of spring and the beginning of a new year with new life. The toe box is grey-black anthracite with bullet holes. It is framed by a boundary with black suede. The mid-section is also grey. I like the orange panel near the heel. It is almost luminescent, by using the trick of the gradual shifting of the shades of orange. I like the hues.
The back tab is read with Nike printed in bold black. Its matching partner is in the red outsole. The stitching of the sneaker is done in different colors for the various regions of the shoe. These small details help to make each panel of the shoe look good.
The Nike Dunks have had a long life. They were first created in 1985. The Dunk was meant as a fraternal twin of the Nike Terminator. There were many colors to suit the customized look for various Universities and Colleges. In 1998, the Dunk was revived and reintroduced with some changes. This made it popular as it became an icon for shoes as it was a leader in having new fashions and artistic touches.
This Nike Dunk Hi Premium is a great looking shoe. It will be available at Nike SB soon. It has a forest green colorway but that is a very small portion since there are light green leather accents that envelope almost the entire shoe.
The toe box and heel have the same green camouflage spots on green background. I like this pattern; it resembles the skin of the green speckled frog. The tongue is dark forest green that matches the colorway portion of the shoe.
The mid-portion of forest green leather has texture included. The small granular pattern makes it look rough, just like the skin of an amphibian. When you examine this, it bears some relation to the tongue, which is mesh with a rough texture.
The Nike swoosh, inner lining and outsole belong to the same matching red color. Red and green are a good pair for the color combo. The white shoe laces complement the white mid-sole of the shoe.
When you look at the outsole, it has some nice patterns on it. The concentric circles help to provide gripe and harmony. The square treads help the heel to dig in and provide good ground supporting balance.

A designer dubbing himself Sole Oreo posted these custom Air Force Ones on NikeTalk recently. Sole Oreo created these custom Nikes for a friend who is not a fan of wild designs and bright colors. It doesn’t take much to make a pair of Air Force Ones look good but Sole Oreo seemed to meet his friend’s objectives.
The black paint job is broken up by small bits of color that show Sole Oreo’s restraint in designing these shoes. A novice designer may have gone crazy with gold paint instead of applying a few coats to the Nike swoosh. The cardinal red laces give Sole Oreo’s friend a bit of color without going overboard. The designer showed off his skills by applying dark gray paint to the toe area to create a rough-and-tumble look.
You can look at Sole Oreo’s past works here to compare the Whitsum Air Force One to his other customs. I side with the designer’s friend when it comes to simple designs on a great shoe. I don’t need cartoons, bright colors and crazy designs on a pair of Air Force Ones. Sole Oreo has impressed at least two people with these custom shoes.
Nike Zoom BB II is the preferred sneaker Nike’s athletes from point guards to small forwards. Though on occasion, you will see some bigmen wearing them too. These shoes are lightweight and flexible. Only recently released at retail, the Nike Zoom BB II is now available at NIKEiD.com for just $125.

It is densely populated with bullet holes and this creates an interesting design. The shoe lace is white and complements the white Nike swoosh. The lace has specks of yellow and this accent is good for the yellow panel of the shoe. Due to the colorful panels of the shoe, the basic design is rather plain. This helps to focus the attention on the colors.
The 2nd pair of Dunks uses the same basic color combination. The difference is that now, the colors are changed for each panel of the shoe. The shoe lace is white with specks of red. The 3rd pair is created using the same basic design. This time, the white lace has specks of blue.
Which pair of multicolor Dunks would you choose? This depends on your personal preferences. The first factor I would consider is the toe box. Since this is the first visible part of the shoe when someone meets you from the front, this has the most impact. I would choose the pair with the orange toe box. I think orange is a slightly more neutral color than red or blue.

Nike has created a new pack called the Horror Series. This is a collection of an Air Max LTD, Dunk Lo and Vandal Hi. Each shoe has a printed graphic that shows the theme. These shoes are sold by Major DC.
The Air Max LTD toe box has an interesting skull and a sickle over its head. The horror theme is continued in the deep red shoe lace and a running stream of blood red cross stitches down the side of the shoe.
The Horror Series Dunk Lo looks more cheerful. Its toe box has a colorful graphic, set against a red background. The perimeter of the shoe is a green border. There is another white perimeter before the mid-sole of the shoe starts.
The Horror Series Vanda Hi has a white colorway. The graphic is a devil and it is drawn at the heel. You know what they say you can run faster with the devil at your heels. This shoe has an interesting velco strap around the heels. Its shoe lace is as black as the dark night where the evil devil lurks.
The Dunk Lo with its red and green contrasting colors is the most outrageous of this pack. I would choose the Air Max LTD because its color combination is soothing.
Sole Oreo is in the midst of producing a pair of custom Nikes with a Paris theme. These shoes are incomplete at the moment though they have a lot of promise. The unfinished portions of the Paris Highs are shown below.

The designer has created individual panels with light colors ranging from blue to pink to act as a backdrop forParisian themes. You can see paintings, renderings of French soldiers and other elements on each panel. I think these shoes exhibit an artistic touch that is lacking in most custom sneakers. Most designers could not transfer classic and modern French paintings to such a unique canvass. Sole Oreo makes this transfer with a deep attention to detail needed to honor these works.
My only problem with the Paris Highs is the mixture of a flesh-colored background with a red swoosh. I am not sure if Sole Oreo will work further with these elements but a swoosh with a subtle color would help highlight the overall effect. I cannot wait to see how the Paris Highs turn out in the end.
Evolved Footwear and 2000words.org have collaborated on the Purple Rain Storm III shown above. This pair of customized Nike Air Stabs leave much to be desired in terms of taste as well as execution. I have reviewed quite a few of Evolved Footwear’s customs but this seems to fall short on all counts.
These custom Air Stabs were six months in the making according to Evolved Footwear’s post on NikeTalk. I think six months was too much time to think about flourishes and elements to add to this shoe. The speckled outsole, purple spotted white swoosh and inverted paint job on the toe box are too much for my eyes. The cherry on top of this poorly-conceived pair of customs is the bright green laces.
I know Evolved Footwear works within the confines of requests from clients and collaborators. I think they could have put together a better pair of Air Stabs if they exerted a bit more creative control. The simplest way these shoes could be improved is using another set of laces to dampen some of the excessive exuberence.

Well then we have a shoe for you. The latest exclusive from House of Hoops is this Tony the Tiger inspired Nike Dunk High iD.
Thes shoes feature an awesome navy and white colorway accented by the fantastic orange and black tiger stripe print.

Every shoe company seems to have Olympic fever this winter. Nike has been active in putting out dozens of shoes modeled after the Olympic medals, historic Olympic Games and specific events. The Nike Trainer Dunk Lows shown above are designed for swimming enthusiasts.
A close examination of the photo above will help you see why these shoes are distinctive. The gold accents and bright-white paint may obscure the fact that there are clear panels behind the swooshes and along the toe boxes. This Trainer Dunk Low is a glorified sandal passing as a pair of cross trainers.
I may not appreciate the clear paneling but there is another distinctive touch that Nike added that is great. Pull out the insoles of the Olympic Gold Trainer and you will see rows of lane markers. The insoles cannot be seen by anyone but the wearer, however, so I give these Trainers a low mark in terms of design.
If you like simplicity and style, you won’t be disappointed with these Nike Air Force Ones that dropped at House of Hoops in Harlem last week. These simple black colorways feature premium leather and colored midsoles and heel tabs.
The four available colors are Barn, Chutney, Dark Loden and Medium Grey, combined with all black uppers. You can get the Nike Air Force 1 – Black Premiums by heading down to House of Hoops located at 268 West 125th Street in Harlem.
My favorite of the group is the Chutney (mustard yellow) because it provides the most contrast. However, any of these shoes would be a nice choice if you love versatile black kicks.
Nike has a new 10AC spring 2008 collection. It is a collaboration with Uno Coal From Japan. This collection has clothing and footwear. It uses its basic colors of black and white. The previous season colors were also black and white. This collection has a black Nike Talache Low and a white Talache mid. The clothing includes T-shirts and windbreakers. The accessories include beanies and a tote bag.
The Talache Low is simple in design but a classic. It has a white mid-sole and a thin black outsole. There is a tag attached to the last shoe lace hole. There is a special panel at the heel that is light black color with darker, black spots. Special attention is also paid to the heel where a different colored grey tab is attached.
The 10AC beanies are simple and clean classics. They are valuable for accessorizing any outfit. I would like to use the white one for dark colored outfits and vice versa for the black beanie.
The tote bag looks nice. It is large enough to carry essentials, while small enough to be used as a handbag too. The straps create the design by being a long follow through, being stitched right down to the bottom of the bag.
The glossy windbreakers are sleek and nice. The last item is the T shirt with a contrasting color of bands at the sleeves.

2010 Discount Nike SB Customs in Honor of Kanye West
Twitch came out with some Nike SB customs recently in honor of Kanye West. The inspiration was the cover art for West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” single which features some cartoon images similar to artwork used on other West singles. I think Twitch did a fine job with these shoes especially in portraying a popular rapper like Kanye West.
It is tough to make a realistic portrait with paint on the side of a shoe. You can compound that problem with the popularity of the subject and add some serious pressure on the artist. The picture above shows Twitch’s outstanding work in creating a clear and unmistakable picture of Kanye on the left shoe. The black background with small white spots is perfect considering the bright yellow/green used on the rest of the shoe.
The picture below shows the artwork on the right shoe including a clever use of the Nike swoosh to form the smile of a cartoon character. I think there are brighter and more fanciful shoes celebrating West’s artistic side but Twitch captures something deeper in these shoes. I would be reluctant to wear these shoes lest I wear out West’s portrait by walking through puddles and rain.
If you are music fan, you may love the new pack of shoes being released by Nike this fall. These shoes honor heavy metal and punk rock in a pack dubbed the Nike Hard N Heavy Attitude Pack.
These interesting shoes, which are a Nike Terminator and a Vandal so far, feature metal studs and a strap resembling a belt. The shoes come in black and gold colorways and each will be released with a gold guitar pick.
Studs are being used quite a bit in women’s shoes, belts and handbags this year. So it’s not surprising that Nike chose to use them in this pack. We’ll let you know more details on pricing and other shoes in the pack as soon as info is released.

The beige is kind of like grey in color. The toe box is framed by an earthy tone of brown-beige. This suede paneling ends with a pointed tip and another panel continues right up to the heel of the shoe. The entire shoe is in suede, save for a panel of smooth, red-brown leather at the heel.
The mid-sole has 3 lines of machine stitches in matching beige thread. The Nike brand is almost invisible, except for a small branding on the tongue and at the heel of the mid-sole. This is definitely a nice dress shoe to wear on casual occasions. I like the mild colors as they would complement many colors in my wardrobe.
Nike has maintained its high profile by sponsoring events, clubs and athletes. Some of its celebrity athletes are Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Robinho, Ronaldinho and etc.
Wayne Rooney will be getting hitched this summer to his long time girlfriend, Coleen McLoughlin. Coleen has disallowed Wayne's big extended family to attend their wedding because of an earlier skirmish with some of them. It is unknown if any of Wayne's soccer team mates would be invited. The couple has sold the photography rights for their wedding for a record breaking £2.5 million.

The new Nike Dunk Hi Premium is a fresh White/ Pine Green-Varsity Maize Colorway. It has a classic shape and is made out of white/ pine green smooth leather. It has a white/ green sole. The innersole is actually a thin layer that hides the Zoom Air unit under it. This gives the shoe extra comfort. This is the extra insulated inner that provides more warmth during winter. I wish they had released this shoe before winter. Now, if I buy this, I would keep it for my winter of 2008. This shoe has an extra pair of green laces. The different laces will give the shoe a slightly new look. The Nike Swoosh is made of premium ostrich leather. That is really exotic.
The features for the green/white colorway apply equally for the red/white colorway too. The photo shows the red shoe lace instead of the white shoe lace on the shoe. This shows the effect of the red lace as an accent on the shoe. I like the idea of having a red heel. I prefer this to the other pair with the green heel. I think having a colored shoe lace would make the shoe look more attractive than a white lace.
A young designer with the NikeTalk handle “daaznfella” set about customizing two pair of Nike Air Max 90s. You can see both pairs in the middle stages of development after the post. It is clear that “daaznfella” had a lot of work ahead of him to reach the Air Max 90s shown above.

The left pair features additional light gray paint behind a darker gray Nike swoosh. The designer didn’t go overboard with this pair, opting for subtle shifts that Nike should have thought about in the first place.
The right pair in the photo above act as a colorful counterpoint to the left pair. Neon green laces drew my eyes the first time I glanced at the photo. I think that the designer’s sparing use of red paint around the Air cushion and collar makes the garish laces acceptable.
It can be difficult to customize these shoes because a few missteps can lead to an ugly pair of Nikes. I like what I see out of “daaznfella” though I hope he steps out a little bit more in future endeavors.
If you have $450 to drop on a hot, new custom Nike Air Force 1, check out these customs by GourmetKickz. Called Kung-Fu Militia, you simply can find kicks like these on the open market. GourmetKickz is only selling 12 pairs so if you want these shoes, you better act fast!
The theme of the shoe seems to be a mix of an Oriental and a military look. The use of camouflage is extremely nice, especially with the dark green Nike swoosh over the top of it. The Oriental patterns over parts of the shoe give these customs a unique look and feel.
This Tre A.D. uses the Nike Free technology. It has large flex grooves in the right places. The toe box is wrapped in an entire rubber toe cap. The Zoom air bag is inside the shoe.

Due to the dark color, the rubber toe cap looks outstanding. Its outsole is blue in color. I would suggest the black colorway for a more striking effect than the white colorway.

RastaCat at Baysicc Designs has turned a pair of Nike Air Force Ones into a mural about life in New York City. The exposed sides of both shoes feature water color murals of the Big Apple skyline. The right shoe shows the bright lights and skyscrapers that people associate with New York City while the left show focuses on structures on a single street.
Baysicc’s homage to New York City features small touches on the toe boxes and heels. The toe boxes continue the water-color effect with depictions of the Statue of Liberty’s face. The heels are given the look of a subway stop with train markers and the words “Times Square” standing out against the black paint. This pair of Air Force Ones is New York from toe to heel.
Check out other offerings by Baysicc Designs here to see if the rest of their projects match up with the NYC Air Force Ones. The time and care put into these one-off shoes should appeal to sneaker fans who are tired of mainstream shoes and sloppy amateur jobs.
A few months back, we told you about a few colorways of the Nike Vintage Terminator that would be coming out this year.
Well the red version is now available. The latest in the Vintage collection, red and white St. John’s University Terminator High is now available at Atmos.
The Georgetown model was already released and now it’s St. John’s turn. These shoes show the vintage signs of aging like creasing, scuffing and yellowing.
Cop both the Georgetown and the St. John’s version at Atmos right for 16,800 yen (about $165 USD) a pair.
The sequence of Nike Denim Dunks shown above shows the end result of a customizer’s afternoon of boredom. The selective use of bleach on these Dunks created large splotches of white set against blue denim. There were already bleach marks on these shoes that created a multi-toned effect after everything was washed and dried.

I think that these custom Dunks are interesting though difficult to imagine wearing around town. The disjointed shapes created by bleach against denim are intriguing but unattractive visually. I am not a huge fan of denim shoes in the first place but denim with different bleach stains just doesn’t work. Boredom can create interesting things but it takes commitment and time on the part of the designer to turn something like bleach into a tool for artistic expression. This designer could make some great stuff in the future if he showed some discipline with bleach, paint and other implements.
These custom Nike SBs were created by an amateur designer whose friend was not keen on the yellow fade underneath the swoosh. You can check out the original shoes after this post for comparison’s sake. I think that the switch from yellow to purple underneath the swoosh alters the appearance of the shoe in a negative way.
I understand that bright yellow is not the favorite color for many sneaker fans. The problem with changing from a contrasting color to a matching color under the swoosh is that the shoe’s signature mark is lost. Another layer of purple paint will turn the back half of these shoes into a big mess.
The designer wanted to model these shoes after the Jordan VII Raptors but I think he missed the mark. There is something to be said for keeping a shoe with garish colors intact if the alternative is creating a mess. I hope that the designer who posted this on Nike Talk improves on his work in the future by thinking about the reasoning behind the manufacturer’s colorways and designs.

Hot sale Baysicc Designs Presents Black and Gold AF1s
Bayiscc Designs is back again with a pair of glittering Nike Air Force Ones. The design is a simple gold/black colorway split down the middle with alternating swoosh colors. The most noticeable aspect of these custom Air Force Ones is the glitter applied from heel to toe.
I have mixed feelings about these customs from Baysicc Designs. I loved the Baysicc’s custom AF1s with a Big Apple theme that I posted on earlier this month and I think the designer did a great job of keeping a clean demarcation between black and gold. I have a personal problem with the glitter that may not be shared by other sneaker fans. I think that the black/gold customs would have succeeded without the glitter as a simple two-color take on the Nike Air Force One.
I think that Baysicc Designs has done better work than these black/gold offerings in the past. These shoes could have stood on their own but I know plenty of other sneaker fans disagree with my assessment. The Nike Air Stab has just been released in a Glacier colorway for women which is very appealing. This shoe features grey and purple accents to the main silverish Glacier color. Ice blue is also used on the Swoosh and sole, while touches of light green are present in this shoe as well.
These shoes are available on ebay right now with a starting bid of $80 and they’ll be on shelves in stores soon.
The colors and textures blend well in this shoe. It’s subtle coloring is very good looking, particularly compared to some of the more loud colorways that are on the market right now. This is a great shoe for the ladies for spring. Get it on ebay now or look for it at a retailer near you soon.
The SBTG/Phu! feud continues today with my look at the Phantom Mirage Air Max 90s. Phu! created eight custom sneakers that will be pitted against SBTG’s Air Force Ones on March 30 in New York City. I covered SBTG’s customs in yesterday’s post but Phu! has won the Death from Above battle in my mind.
Both designers used World War II fighters as their motivation. SBTG’s Air Force Ones are left in the dust by the modern interpretation taken by Phu!. At Champs and other Nike retailers, you can find this new color scheme for the Nike Air Classic BW. It isn’t vastly different than other Nike Air Classic BWs, but it’s unique enough to be a noteworthy release. At around $90, this shoe is a good buy.

The patent leather on the front portion of the shoes looks nice, as does the Nike Air logo on the tongue. If you want to add some color, switch out the white laces for some colored laces.

Bayiscc Designs is back again with a pair of glittering Nike Air Force Ones. The design is a simple gold/black colorway split down the middle with alternating swoosh colors. The most noticeable aspect of these custom Air Force Ones is the glitter applied from heel to toe.
I have mixed feelings about these customs from Baysicc Designs. I loved the Baysicc’s custom AF1s with a Big Apple theme that I posted on earlier this month and I think the designer did a great job of keeping a clean demarcation between black and gold. I have a personal problem with the glitter that may not be shared by other sneaker fans. I think that the black/gold customs would have succeeded without the glitter as a simple two-color take on the Nike Air Force One.
I think that Baysicc Designs has done better work than these black/gold offerings in the past. These shoes could have stood on their own but I know plenty of other sneaker fans disagree with my assessment. The Nike Air Stab has just been released in a Glacier colorway for women which is very appealing. This shoe features grey and purple accents to the main silverish Glacier color. Ice blue is also used on the Swoosh and sole, while touches of light green are present in this shoe as well.
These shoes are available on ebay right now with a starting bid of $80 and they’ll be on shelves in stores soon.
The colors and textures blend well in this shoe. It’s subtle coloring is very good looking, particularly compared to some of the more loud colorways that are on the market right now. This is a great shoe for the ladies for spring. Get it on ebay now or look for it at a retailer near you soon.

2009 Adidas Originals Superstar ’80s – 60th Anniversary
Now is Adidas being too much? We’ve been speaking about some footwear being similar to jewelry and passing as items of luxury before. Adidas seems to have taken this concept seriously, and these shoes do sport six small diamonds between the signature three stripes, with Swarovsky crystal studded laces. Gem-shoes? Wow!
But if any of you will criticize this as a kind of misplaced extravagance, let’s remember the 60 years of excellence during which this German brand has been creating beautiful items of footwear for their followers. And the classical design of this sample doesn’t disappoint, the colorways, the stripes, the diamonds, all combine to create quite a masterpiece.
This pair is very limited in number, and we’re told that they are available at Xcitizm at the moment.
Hziii Customizations used the mixture of ink colors as inspiration when creating the Poison Adidas Stan Smith 2. The Poison Adidas Stan Smith 2 can also be seen from a darker perspective with the black ink slowly but surely killing or “poisoning” the mint ink. The exterior side of both shoes shows the mint color cutting across the black expanse in a thin line. If you imagine dropping some light ink into a dark fluid, you can see what a great job Hziii did with this design. The brush strokes that cut across the black paint may look haphazard but the image moves smoothly as the eye drifts to the toe.
Hziii used a more elaborate design on the interior side of the Poison Adidas Stan Smith 2. We see a broader band of mint green just behind the middle panel, surrounded on both sides by black paint. Hypethetic was asked by Adidas to customize a pair of its shoes for an event called “Adidas 60 Years of Stars and Stripes.” The designer used a pair of white/green Adidas Pro Models to get the job done. By looking at the photos below and at Hypethetic’s Customsnkr.com blog linked here, you would never know that this great design came from such humble beginnings.
These Pro Models were converted into a celebration of Adidas advertisements throughout the years. Hypethetic integrated the images of Adidas models and fans into the shoe including a remarkable melding of the blue tri-stripes with ad images. Since Adidas has spent 60 years building its image, it is appropriate that Hypethetic focused on advertising in celebrating the company’s achievements.
My favorite part of the Stars and Stripes Pro Models is the stitched “60 Years” featured on the tongue. Hypethetic stitched “60 Years” but let the blue background step forward in the shape of the Adidas logo inside of the zero. I am sure that these customs were a hit considering Hypethetic’s design skills as well as the shoe’s appropriate theme for the event.
As part of the SLVR collection, Adidas has released these SLVR 101 kicks in their online store. At first glance, these shoes look like a combination of a sneaker and a pair of dress shoes. Due largely to the high quality leather and intricate stitching, the Adidas SLVR 101 will run you $195 at the SLVR STORE.
The black upper is complemented with white midsole. The black laces fit seamlessly over the black leather and just a bit of shine is added by the logo on the tongue. Overall, this might be the smoothest release yet by Adidas is 2009.

The designer behind Sole Brother Customs dropped a line to tell us about his latest work, the Miami/Amsterdam Adidas Stan Smiths. These customs were made for a client who moved from Amsterdam to Miami recently and wanted to celebrate these two cities. You can find the Miami/Amsterdam Adidas Stan Smiths at the Sole Brother website linked here.
The right shoe celebrates the warm weather, unique foliage and stunning skyline of Miami. The exterior side captures a line of palm trees along with the afternoon sun peaking through the leaves. Sole Brother portrayed the metro skyline of Miami from the Atlantic Ocean on the right interior side.
The left shoe shows what Sole Brother’s client was leaving behind in Amsterdam. Sole Brother used the exterior side to create a row of houses that could be taken from any street in the city. The interior side represents the windmills spread throughout the Netherlands.
S4 of Sole Creations created the Alpha Kappa Alpha Adidas Superstar II for his girlfriend. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Superstar II celebrate her membership in the noted sorority back in 2001. I found these photos at the Sole Creations Customsnkr.com blog linked here.
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Adidas Superstar II are covered in inside jokes and personal references that are delightful to view. The left heel features “Alpha Kappa Alpha” in black cursive lettering and the sorority’s founding date (1908) set against a pink backdrop. The right exterior features block lettering that says “AKAtude” to represent the sorority’s attitude.
The interior side of the left heel has the year 2001 printed in pink to represent the wearer’s first year of membership. S4 added inside elements like an exaggerated “Skee!” call and a pinkie held up in the air for his girlfriend’s benefit. I love the pink and green checkerboard pattern on the tongue that tops off these custom Adidas Superstar II. As graduation season comes and goes, we will think about our own school experiences. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Adidas Superstar II may reference a single person’s experiences but they represent our memories of the best times at school.

The grey/yellow combination is especially alluring with its powerful lines, pure and flawless form and more than satisfactory contours. Words are superfluous, but if there is anything to be mentioned here, it is our unsurpassed amazement at the beautiful and incomparable vision that lies behind this pair. The bulky Hypebeast has finally proven that it is capable of creating elegance and style as much as it can fuel exaggeration and excess.
The 3M underlay seems to emphasize the bright future of this design as it leads the world into the next generation of creativity and beauty. Who wouldn’t love this? But unfortunaterly, we need to wait a while before there’s any detail on when or how we can get these.

The Bandits are members of the National Lacrosse League which plays indoor lacrosse in cities throughout North America. Tekneek Customs posted its latest customs at the Facebook page linked here.
The Buffalo Bandits were the NLL champions in 2008, defeating the Portland Lumberjax 14-13. Tekneek Customs celebrates the Bandits’ victory in style with these custom Adidas. The toe box features the Bandits logo, a masked man looking suspiciously at the viewer. Tekneek painted the rest of the shoe black and orange to match the team’s colors without going overboard with the Bandits theme.
